Theme 2- Global Issues

Overview: The Global Issues unit is a unique opportunity for students to investigate an issue happening in the world today and work together in small groups to not only gain an advanced understanding of their topic, but look at what is being done today to solve it. They also brainstorm ideas about what they can do to contribute to the solution. Some of those options may culminate in a letter-writing campaign, circulating a petition for their cause, or doing something else to actually affect change in that area. Although all units incorporate these strategies, this one is almost exclusively student-centered and inquiry-based.
